Mumbai, 4th November, 2026: Bringing together philanthropy and a shared commitment to cancer care, fashion designer and philanthropist Maheka Mirpuri hosted the 14th Annual Charity Gala for the Move for Cancer Awareness (MCAN) Foundation at the iconic Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai. Filmmaker Karan Johar joined her for the fourth consecutive year in support of the initiative, which raises funds for the treatment of underprivileged patients battling head and neck cancer at Tata Memorial Hospital.

The evening’s charity auction raised INR 4.12 Crores in just one hour, with all proceeds directed towards supporting patients who require financial assistance for treatment.
Maheka Mirpuri has been associated with Tata Memorial Hospital and the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel for the last 13 years, and their exceptional processes and hospitality have greatly facilitated her efforts.
Speaking about his continued association with the cause, Karan Johar said, “This is my fourth consecutive year supporting Maheka and the incredible work she is doing through M-Can. I truly believe in this cause and the importance of ensuring that financial constraints do not prevent patients from accessing the treatment they need. Maheka’s dedication is inspiring, and I am glad to be part of an initiative that brings people together to make a tangible difference in the lives of patients and their families.”

Reflecting on the initiative’s journey, Maheka Mirpuri said, “Over the past 13 years, we have raised ₹16.59 crore and helped 4,000 patients access cancer treatment. This journey has been made possible by the generosity of everyone who has stood by us year after year. Every contribution represents hope for a patient and their family, and I remain deeply committed to taking this mission forward. Having Karan’s continued support, alongside that of our friends and well-wishers, means a great deal to me as we work towards reaching more patients in need. And I am glad to have raised INR 4.12 Cr this year.”
The evening also featured the showcase of Maheka’s latest collection, ‘BOMBAY से BEYOND – POSTCARD TO REALITY’, which received an enthusiastic response from the audience, bringing a creative dimension to an evening centred on giving back.

The venue was transformed to transport guests to the golden era of Bombay, with vintage cinema negatives, nostalgic visuals, old-Bombay-inspired installations and a royal, vintage-themed stage. Bringing the theme “Bombay से Beyond – Postcard to Reality” to life, the décor celebrated the city’s cinematic legacy, old-world charm and cultural heritage. Live artists Dhanya Namboothiri and Gautam Mazumdar captured the evening on canvas, while curated food stalls featuring nostalgic Bombay flavours, a specially designed auto-rickshaw installation by Maheka Mirpuri and traditional tiffinwalas distributing postcards added to the immersive experience. The evening also featured saxophonist Ryan, singer Rachel during the fashion presentation, and a special couture showcase by Maheka Mirpuri, bringing together the glamour, nostalgia and spirit of vintage Bombay.
Shalini Passi, Renu Oberoi, Mahesh Notandass, Sanuj Birla, Kanav Arora, among others, generously supported the 14th Annual MCAN Charity Gala Auction.

The evening drew prominent personalities from cinema, fashion, sports and business, including Urmila Matondkar, Shalini Passi, Dalip Tahil, Ramesh Sippy, Barkha Dutt, Manssi Scott, Jaya Raheja, Poonam Dhillon, Madhoo Shah and Isha Koppikar, among others.
