SUMMARY

Amaha is planning to complete a ₹100 crore fundraise, including a ₹10 crore debt round led by Alteria Capital, as it seeks to grow its hospital and clinic footprint in India. The company’s mission is to expand its reach to meet the needs of those living with moderate and severe mental illness whose treatment and care needs have been underserved by other means and who benefit from a structured paradigm. The fundraising drive is directly linked to the second mental health hospital, which will be a 55-bed setup in South Bengaluru, opening its doors by December 2026. This funding will also support the opening of new outpatient clinics, expansion of clinical capabilities, and improvement of the IT and telehealth infrastructure necessary to provide comprehensive specialist mental health care services.

Physical infrastructure and financial structure

The financing round involves a significant cohort of long-term investors, such as Sandbox International Holdings Limited, a life skills education platform based in London, as well as existing investors Lightbox Ventures and Fireside Ventures. Additional participants in the round include Nithin Kamath through Rainmatter alongside the prominent family offices of Shreyas Shibulal, Ashish Bharat Ram, and Adarsh Jalan.

The total amount raised is ₹100 crore, of which ₹10 crore is debt financing from Alteria Capital, and the remaining ₹90 crore is the non-debt component of the round. While the firm hasn’t publicly shared the specific equity stakes it received, valuation parameters, or equity ownership shifts in the round, the support indicates institutional and family office investors have a high degree of trust in the company.

Additionally, the company has failed to specify a definitive closing date for the fundraise. Amaha has its physical operations based out of Bengaluru, and earlier, in 2025, the organization opened its 27-bed super-specialty mental health hospital in the city.

The 55-bed facility in South Bengaluru is the company’s second dedicated mental health healthcare facility, with the combined stated capacity of both hospitals at 82. The expansion of the infrastructure forms one of the key features of the Amaha Care model that links online consultations and OPDs with inpatient psychiatric treatment at the hospital level.

Amaha was established in 2016 by psychiatrist Dr. Amit Malik, an entrepreneur in the healthcare sector, and today comprises 9 unique centers spread across three major cities including Bengaluru, Delhi NCR, and Mumbai.

Clinical offerings and operational milestones

The mental health care startup offers a variety of services that target different mental illnesses, such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity, obsessive-compulsive disorder, addiction, schizophrenia, and personality disorders.

In order to make the service accessible to different people, Amaha offers its services in over 15 languages, so that patients and their families with different languages can get the necessary assistance. Apart from physical expansion, some part of the funds that have been raised will be used in the clinical training and supervision of the treatments.

Furthermore, there will be the introduction of artificial intelligence technologies that will aid in patient triage, assist doctors in their daily activities, and make use of data analytics to coordinate treatment and monitor patient outcomes.

The strategy follows research in the company’s Mental Health Report 2026, which collected responses from 13,825 people and found that 53% of respondents had been suffering from mental illness for over a year before starting treatment. 94.9% of respondents stated that they had 2 or more mental health issues at once, emphasizing the urgent need for accessible, organized care.

The startup has reached several milestones, such as providing over 450,000 therapy and psychiatry sessions to over 100,000 clients, while maintaining a clinical network of over 270 mental health practitioners and peer support groups with over 65,000 members.

It also collaborates with more than 150 corporate bodies to roll out workplace and institutional mental health programming, following on from a strategic partnership it established with Children First in 2022 to bring expert services to children, adolescents, and families in institutional settings.

Conclusion

The funding plan worth ₹100 crore, which includes debt financing of ₹10 crore from Alteria Capital, represents a significant milestone for Amaha, the mental wellness startup, as it moves toward its next phase of growth. The planned launch of the new hospital in South Bengaluru, with its 55 beds set to open in December 2026, along with the recruitment of more advanced technology, including artificial intelligence tools, will complement its integrated mental healthcare network throughout India. The company’s holistic strategy, which includes online consultations, outpatient services, and hospital mental healthcare, means it is uniquely positioned to tackle key treatment shortages and provide specialist mental healthcare to wider populations based on evidence.
