Since its inception in 2011, Snapchat has held off on creating a Windows-based application. The only ways to access the on Windows up until now were through the web version or by using an Android emulator to run the mobile app. However, the messaging service has recently created a Windows app.
It’s interesting to notice that the app on the Microsoft Store is based on the recently released web version of Snapchat. The app is only 1.4MB in size and has the same capabilities as the web version. It is powered by Microsoft Edge, a Chromium-based browser.
Snapchat for Windows includes a start menu app icon and enables notifications, replies, and reactions to chat with video filters among other features because Windows treats it as a native version programme. Although some people might be put off by the fact that this isn’t a full-fledged app, the fact that it’s a progressive web app ensures that it will always be current.
If you’re interested in Snapchat for Windows, all you have to do is launch the Microsoft Store app from your Windows computer, perform a search for Snapchat, and click the “Get” button to get started. Remember that you will require your phone to confirm the login.
