WhatsApp has expanded its Channels features for broadcasts in seven more nations, including Egypt, Chile, Malaysia, Morocco, Ukraine, Kenya, and Peru. Earlier today, the business announced the news via a tweet and a Threads post.
Last month, WhatsApp first introduced Channels to users in Singapore and Colombia. The business introduced this function to enable users to receive information by following various NGOs, institutions for medical research, fact-checking organizations, and local government. The company stated at the time of the feature’s launch that it intended to make it accessible to everyone this year.
Administrators can give members text, images, and videos through channels, which are one-way exchanges. The new “Updates” tab, which also features tracks for regional and global organizations, allows users to access and follow these channels.
In the past month, Instagram made Channels available to all users after testing it with a select set of users. Meta is focusing on developing a new platform for creators to interact with their Instagram followers.
This month, WhatsApp unveiled a brand-new standalone software for Wear OS, including replying to messages, making VoIP calls, and starting new discussions.
