SUMMARY

The online education market has undergone a major shakeup in the last 2-3 years, with significant market changes including Byju’s collapse and Unacademy’s acquisition by UpGrad. Vedantu successfully offset these industry challenges by delivering growth in both its top line and working metrics during FY26. Vedantu is an edtech unicorn based in Bengaluru. Vedantu’s consolidated financial statements, as reviewed by Entrackr, recorded revenue from operations rising by 17.6% to ₹267 crore in FY26, compared to ₹227 crore in FY25.

Primary revenue breakdown and operational cost management

Tuition fees were also the key revenue source for Vedantu, growing by 16.8% for FY26 to ₹222 crore from FY25’s allotment of ₹190 crore. The strong growth was witnessed in book sales, uniform sales, and related products, with an increase of 31.8% to ₹29 crore.

Total income from e-learning projects was ₹6.3 crore during the financial year. With non-operating income of ₹3.8 crore, the combined income of Vedantu stood at ₹270 crore for the fiscal year ending March 2026.

On the expenditure side, the total expenditure at Vedantu recorded a slight annual rise from FY25 to ₹442 crore for FY 26. Employee benefit expenses came down by 12.8% to ₹191 crore in FY25 from ₹219.5 crore in the previous FY24, the highest expense item for the company.

This employee expense amount incorporated non-cash employee stock option costs of ₹7.2 crore. Equally significant was a 54.3% rise in costs on contract and outsourced resources to ₹71 crore.

Depreciation expenses fell 5.8% to ₹65 crore, while advertising and promotion expenses grew 7.4% to ₹29 crore, and technology expenses remained at ₹12 crore for the year.

Bottom-line loss reduction and market outlook

Vedantu marked an 18.6% decline in EBITDA losses, reducing the figure from ₹171 crore in FY26 to ₹210 crore in FY25, which was reported despite moderate revenue growth and flat operating expenditure.

On a unit economics basis, the company improved its cost-to-operating-revenue ratio. The Vedantu cash and bank balance as of March 2026 was ₹77.25 crore, and the total current assets were ₹160 crore.

As Vedantu deals with a unified edtech marketplace alongside leading players such as Physics Wallah, the growth in pre-exceptional operational performance is noteworthy.

Vedantu’s five-month fundraising round in September 2025 raised $11 million from internal investors alongside ABC World Asia, with Accel India and Omidyar also joining the round.

The business plan will center on continuing revenue development, enhancing cash flow, and maximizing the company’s private agility as it progresses towards financial milestones in FY27 and FY28.

Conclusion

Vedantu’s performance in FY26 reflects a solid historical trend of stability after a rocky startup year across the wider Indian edtech landscape. In addition, its operating revenues increased by 17.6% to ₹267 crore, while total expenses were unchanged at ₹442 crore, leading to an 18.6% decrease in losses before exceptional items to ₹171 crore. With the cash balances of ₹77.25 crore and capital raised recently backing up these efforts, Vedantu is positioned to ensure financial prudence, consolidate its core academic programs, and build a long-term sustainable business model in an evolving market landscape.
