Toothsi parent MakeO secures ₹90 crore in funding for India and Southeast Asia expansion

SUMMARY

MakeO is the parent company behind dentaltech platform Toothsi and skincare brand Skinnsi. Healthtech startup MakeO has raised ₹90 crore (approximately $16 million) in a fresh funding round. The funding milestone is seen as an effort to speed up the company’s growth plans in India and abroad following a major clinical-grade makeover business. This new capital will mainly be utilized to scale up the MakeO physical experience centers and build their presence in the Indian and Southeast Asian markets.

Key investor participation and service offerings

Leaders and investors like 360 ONE Asset and Ashish Kacholia’s investment office made a significant contribution to the funding stage. Current institutional investors, including Eight Roads Ventures, a South Korean firm termed Paramark Ventures, and the family office of Medlife’s co-founders Prashant Singh and Tushar Kumar, also joined the round.

MakeO’s net raised capital stands at $90 million, built up across multiple equity rounds, with investors continuing to show their confidence in the hybrid approach to clinical care delivery given its technology capabilities. MakeO was founded in 2018 by its CEO and Co-Founder Arpi Mehta Shah, along with Pravin Shetty, Manjul Jain and Anirudh Kal, who previously worked for a dental aligner company under the brand name Toothsi.

In late 2022, the company combined its flagship brands, Toothsi and Skinnsi, into MakeO to provide one-stop treatment solutions for dental, skin, and hair products from within a single platform. Its wide range of treatments covers clear aligners, teeth whitening, laser hair reduction, acne treatment, and anti-aging treatments, which allow for access to clinical-grade aesthetic care to be both convenient, affordable, and accessible.

Operational growth and professional network

MakeO has introduced digital expert consultation services to ensure high standards of clinically supervised imaging and accompanied this development with physical experience centres where customers can get personal scans, evaluations, and treatment. The startup now has a wide network comprising more than 600 dental professionals, including 100 orthodontists and in-house dentists.

With the fresh capital injection of ₹90 crore, the company will help to implement more experience centres in projected areas, provide oral and digital consultation at every centre with complete quality assurance, and expand its customer base.

MakeO has provided its services to more than 150,000 customers in its dental and skincare businesses. The startup has already achieved considerable scale of operations, with its operating revenue increasing by a significant margin to ₹78.45 crore in FY22 from ₹14.6 crore in FY21.

MakeO is also building a solid footprint in cities beyond India, with its doors now opening in Tier 1 and 2 cities across Southeast Asia, where demand for clinicians and at-home beauty experiences is equally accelerating.

Conclusion

With the investment of ₹90 crore in the round, MakeO demonstrates a renewed commitment to shaping the clinical beauty and dentaltech landscape in India and the global market. The company has a substantial network of physical experience centres that boasts more than 600 dentists from its established professional network, which is complemented by marquee-related investors. MakeO’s integrated platform strategy that integrates digital access with clinical care will significantly contribute to the long-term growth of the healthtech industry, as the company expands its footprint in India and into Southeast Asian countries.
