In response to the increase in gasoline costs, the Centre has decided to raise the toll fee on national highways beginning April 1, Friday. The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has hiked the toll levy from ten to sixty-five rupees, according to reports. Light cars will now cost Rs.10 one trip and Rs.65 for commercial trucks, according to the agency.
The NHAI revises toll tax every financial year. As a result, starting April 1, commuting on the national roads will be more expensive.
The notification has been issued for the financial year 2022-23, according to NHAI Project Director NN Giri. In motorways linking Delhi, the toll tax for automobiles and jeeps has been raised by ten percent. The toll for large vehicles has seen the most significant increase. The one-way toll has been raised by 65 percent.
Tolls on the 59.77-kilometer Delhi-Meerut Expressway would also rise by at least 10%. Starting from Sarai Kale Khan to the end of the expressway at the Kashi toll plaza, the toll fee for light-motor vehicles such as cars and jeeps will be 155, instead of 140. The toll from Sarai Kale Khan to Rasoolpur Sikrod plaza will be Rs.100, while the toll from Bhojpur to Rasoolpur Sikrod plaza will be Rs.130.
The NHAI will impose a toll of 105 for light motor vehicles from Indirapuram to Kashi, 80 for Bhojpur, and 55 for Rasoolpur Sikrod.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) was expected to begin collecting tolls from travellers on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway on December 25, but the plan was put on hold.
In addition, tolls at the Kherki Daula toll plaza, which is located on the Delhi-Jaipur highway, would be raised. This toll plaza will see a 14 percent increase. The toll on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway (KMP) would, on the other hand, climb by 9% or more.
According to the administration of the Kherki Daula toll plaza, large commercial vehicles (trucks, buses, and similar vehicles) would be charged 235 per trip starting April 1 instead of 205 before.
The usual toll for vehicles and jeeps has been increased by ten percent, from 70 to 80 dollars. The price for minibus-type vehicles will be 115 instead of 100.
Every day, almost 80,000 cars pass through the toll plaza at Kherki Daula.
