When and how did you start?
I started my Beauty and Lifestyle Blog back in June 2016. I always had Interested in trying out new products especially in Beauty, Food, and Lifestyle. I was not, and neither today a crazy cosmetic lover. All I wanted is to try what’s new, to experience it. This ultimately changed into Blogging where I share my honest reviews on products and even reply to various messages I receive on Skincare to suggest them the best .
How did you come up with the idea? Your inspiration moment ?
I grew up reading Rati Tehri’s IMBB Blog. I always loved it that before buying any product, I can read reviews over there and finalize my decision. In June 2016, when NYX Launched in India, I loved how brand connected with Bloggers for Marketing and Influencing Activity. I realized this is what I can do and want to do. I wanted to create a place where everyone can find reviews on existing and newly launched products.
Brief about the organization and founding members
I am the only person behind my Blog – The Pink Velvet Blog, who started it and maintains it. From creating content to publishing it, finding ways to improve it and taking care of all the SEO and Social Media, is performed by me. After two years, when my brother, Rajat Verma, started his professional photography, I started using his help to Improve Product Images on my Blog which really helped in improving my blog.
The detailed journey, like what all you want to share with readers
” Starting a Blog was never a pre-planned goal neither I thought about it. Just like everyone, I was thinking about what I can do after my Graduation. I had no serious goals or plans, all I knew that I want something is related to cosmetic products and I want to earn big. I graduated from Delhi University in B.com (Hons.). During my final year, all my friends got placed by big companies except me. No, I wasn’t a dull student. I scored 94% in my 12th and I was doing good in my college. It was just I started losing my interest in studies. Everyone suggested me to go for a Gov. Bank Job after my college and I started focusing on that. I paid heavy coaching fee, registered for National Level Bank Exam, but I was having no Interest. I even bought books for CAT! On the day of an exam, I told my parents it is not working, I can’t do it. I want to run a blog and it I have seen bloggers making it as a career. I just can’t go into Corporate offices or Banks. I left all this, and I started my Blog. Luckily, my parents supported me. I started with what I have and gave all my time and hard work into it which resulted in a really successful blog ” Says Niharika Verma
About funding, plans for growth
I only paid Rs.600/- for a domain that too for a year. That’s it. It didn’t require heavy investment. I never paid for Online Ads. I started reviewing what I had on my blog until I started getting Collaborations. For growth, I make sure I blog regularly and maintain it so that it can increase its reach day.
Challenges and Opportunities/ Marketing Strategies
There is no particular strategy or challenge. I am focused on my Blog and don’t feel distracted with whatever going on this Blogging Market. Regarding Opportunities, I started contacted Brands for Collaborations and even received Collaborations from National and International Brands. It all depends on your Blog reach and for it, I make sure to share my blog where it is possible to let everyone know about my work.
Future plans and funding
There is no Particular plan for funding as I never felt any need to invest money. For the growth, I will continue to be updated with whatever going on and will always find ways to improve my blog each day.
My advice to coming Bloggers
“Don’t start a blog with an aim of getting free products. It requires your mental and physical effort. You need to give all your time and mind for creating content and maintain it. Covering Events is another thing. When someone starts a blog for free products, they end up disappointing Brands which somewhere makes a Bad impact of Bloggers in Market. This is what I have seen till date. Start a blog only when you can think that yes, you can write about in-depth on whatever you are going to write and will do your best” Says Niharika
