The third round of layoffs in less than 14 months has occurred at Talkdesk. This business was once valued at $10 billion and sells software to assist giant corporations in improving customer support.

A Talkdesk representative acknowledged via email on Tuesday that there had been “limited headcount reductions in a few areas.” She declined to say how many people the most recent round of cuts impacted.

The 12-year-old San Francisco-based corporation employs machine learning and artificial intelligence to enhance customer support for midmarket and large enterprises. At the time of its most recent fundraising, it had more than 1,800 organizations as clients, including IBM, Acxiom, Trivago, and Fujitsu.

According to a source on anonymity, the company has made several cutbacks over the last 14 months to reduce costs in light of weaker revenue predictions. According to reports, Talkdesk let go of employees in February of this year and August of 2022, when the company had roughly 2,100 workers. How many employees are still there is still being determined.

According to CEO Tiago Paiva’s email statement, the company’s minor cuts won’t have a detrimental impact.

“Investments and advancements we’ve made in AI position us at the forefront of CX innovation, enabling a leaner, more agile global organization,” Paiva stated.

“The minor headcount cuts we made in a few places won’t have a detrimental effect on the speed of our innovation. We will continue to put money into and hire people for strategic positions that help us develop quickly and effectively on a large scale. We are, for instance, changing our location strategy. With our recent FedRAMP In Process designation, success in the healthcare and regulated industries, and increased R&D spending in the United States. Our company is still growing, and the market has much potential for us.

In August 2021, Talkdesk raised $230 million in Series D fundraising, doubling the company’s estimated value to $10 billion.
