Apple has introduced a new version of Shazam, the company’s software that helps consumers identify music. In addition to songs heard through the microphone, Shazam can recognize music on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. This can be useful while watching a video without information about the background music in the description.
As 9to5Mac initially discovered, the technique for identifying a song on any of the apps listed above was clarified in the most recent version (v15.36). To view the results, launch Shazam, tap the blue button, and then return to YouTube, Instagram, or TikTok.
Shazam is also available on Android phones. The app provides a similar feature when it comes to detecting songs from other apps on that platform. However, users must actively consent to hear audio from other apps. In 2019, the Apple-owned app can now recognize the songs you listen to using headphones. In 2018, Apple paid $400 million for Shazam. Soon after, it added a Shazam option to iOS‘s Control Center. Users can add a music recognition button directly from there.
TikTok launched its “New Music” feature in May. TikTok encourages fans to highlight their most current new music and artist releases.
