The Central Mine Planning & Design Institute (CMPDI) has formally issued a major new work order to RailTel Corporation of India (RCI). The institute officially issued a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) to the public sector enterprise for providing complete information technology infrastructure and network services. The landmark development marks RailTel’s increasing reach and capabilities to provide high-class corporate connectivity and specialized IT-related solutions to public domain entities and key national institutes throughout the country.

Project details and strategic acquisition

The awarded project will include the delivery of multiprotocol label switching virtual private network connectivity (MPLS VPN connectivity) to satisfy institutional needs, at different bandwidths. The mandate covers Telepresence as a Service, which powers high-definition video conferencing infrastructure. 

This connectivity and communication architecture would be established at various critical facilities of the institute, such as, the Central Mine Planning & Design Institute headquarters, 6 regional institutes, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Data Centre, and Disaster Recovery Centre (DRC).

The total contract value for this Letter of Acceptance is ₹21.57 crore. The rail operator, RailTel Corporation of India, will be responsible for setting up, operating, and providing ongoing technical support for 5 years, according to the operational terms of the agreement. 

The multi-year contract provides the company with consistent revenue and dedicated support from the central high-speed infrastructure partner to optimize the administrative and technical management of Central Mine Planning & Design Institute at the head office and regional branches.
