Quanfluence

SUMMARY

Quanfluence is a Bengaluru-based photonic quantum technology startup. Quanfluence has raised $10 million in a new funding round. The funding was led by Chiratae Ventures. The funding round involved active strategic investments from Rainmatter by Zerodha and its existing investor, Pi Ventures. The substantial capital injection represents a crucial step toward the development of India’s deep-tech sector, offering the fledgling company crucial financial support to enhance its technological research, scale its operations, and further refine its proprietary hardware systems for solving sophisticated computational challenges.

Capital utilization and technical capabilities

The newly raised capital from this investment round will be used mainly for developing and commercializing a 4-qubit quantum computer in the near term. In addition to this near-term technical standard, Quanfluence has its sights set on achieving a larger prototype with approximately 100 qubits by 2029.

In the next 5-6 years, the company plans to create a fully fault-tolerant universal quantum computer. This multi-stage roadmap emphasizes the structured vision of this startup to move beyond the initial experimental quantum prototypes and toward scalable, commercial quantum computer systems that can perform high-level processing.

Sujoy Chakravarty, Ravi Mehta, Biman Chattopadhyay, Aditi Vaidya, Anil Prabhakar, and Sandeep Goyal founded Quanfluence in 2021 with a goal of creating an innovative photonic quantum computing technology specifically designed for addressing high-level optimisation problems.

The company’s solutions are built from hardware that is specifically designed to support artificial intelligence in decision-making. The technology also maintains a room-temperature environment with advanced optics and specific hardware, avoiding the complex and costly cooling systems that are essential for conventional quantum computing systems necessary for near-absolute-zero operating conditions.

The key technology powering the company’s processing is its optical Ising machine, which combines light waves with FPGAs for fast optimisation processing. The company states that its dedicated architecture can handle specific operational workloads 100 times faster than traditional computing infrastructure.

It has been designed to handle multi-dimensional optimization problems within different critical industrial sectors such as logistics, employee scheduling, enterprise risk management, and portfolio optimisation in financial services.

Prior seed capital and practical industrial applications

To validate the usefulness of its computational approach, Quanfluence is currently experimenting with a more advanced form of its system. This new hardware configuration can now handle from 10 million to 25 million potential combinations for modeling and optimizing complex decisions.

The intensive operational trials are heavily focused on high-stakes scenarios like financial risk management, large-scale logistics operations, and optimized delivery route planning, among others, showing that the photonic quantum architecture can provide actionable speedups for real-life enterprise computational needs.

Before raising this $10 million investment, Quanfluence had already raised $2 million in seed funding in December of 2024. That first investment round was led by Pi Ventures, with others including Golden Sparrow, Reena Dayal, and angel investors.

The startup has continued to grow in the midst of a rapidly expanding quantum technology industry, particularly as the government has rolled out the National Quantum Mission initiative worth ₹6,003.65 crore. The use of photonic technologies is one of the core platforms explicitly identified in this major national initiative as a primary strategic approach to the future of quantum computers.

Conclusion

The $10 million fundraising round secured by Quanfluence reflects maturing investor confidence in the field of photonic quantum technology in India. The investment has been led by Chiratae Ventures, and the diversification of its executive board has included the addition of Pi Ventures and Rainmatter by Zerodha; the support received will allow the startup to meet the expectations of its ambitious project roadmap: a 4-qubit quantum computer, a 100-qubit prototype by 2029, and fault-tolerant systems. Quanfluence’s room-temperature photonic hardware solutions for high-dimensional optimisation and financial processing could play a crucial role in advancing the global quantum computing landscape and support national deeptech initiatives as the industry matures.
