ONDC Food Orders

Ola has already emerged as the second biggest buyer-side platform behind Magic Pin in the food category. The firm claims that it processes 15,000 to 20,000 food orders daily and dominates about 30% of the food ordering market in Delhi NCR and Bengaluru.

Ola’s Offering and Grocery Delivery

Ola generates more than 30% of ONDC food orders in regions including Delhi NCR and Bengaluru. Building on its logistics capabilities, Ola provides electric vehicle logistics for other sellers signed up with ONDC. Ola has attempted to enter the online grocery delivery market in the past through Ola Dash in 2021 with dark stores in cities like Mumbai and Bangalore. In the following year, all the dark stores under Ola Dash ceased their operations.

ONDC’s Growth

India’s mobility and retail marketplace network ONDC is set to achieve 10 million transactions for the first time in June with a y-o-y growth of five times. During the same month, the network recorded the highest daily retail transactions at 200,000.

ONDC’s Vision and Mission

ONDC’s goal is to establish a level playing field for e-commerce in India. Its vision is to support mass population participation of all kinds and sizes of sellers including those from the smaller towns and villages. By creating networks of buyers, sellers, technology marketplaces, and retail locations, ONDC aims to decentralize the country’s e-commerce mechanism.

ONDC aims to significantly increase e-commerce penetration in India. It engages millions of sellers who have not been able to participate in e-retail business. It enhances the development of startups by providing a set of tools to create a scalable and inexpensive e-commerce solution based on an open protocol derived from open-source specifications.

Bhavish Aggarwal’s vision for Ola Mobility

Bhavish Aggarwal, the Co-founder and CEO of Ola, is ambitious and has a vision to revolutionize mobility sector of India. Bhavish Aggarwal’s vision encompasses making India a world leader in electric mobility solutions. He is leading the charge through his company Ola Electric with electric scooters, motorcycles to be launched soon, and electric cars planned for a 2019 launch. It’s however evident that Ola still has the lion’s share of this market with 60% of the market share. The company is still making money, and it is also still evolving, such as extraordinary AI usage cases.

Ola is still formulating its IPO strategies. They tried an IPO last year but did not go ahead. However, Aggarwal is clear that they will do it soon. According to Aggarwal, electrifying mobility end-to-end is also necessary. Some of Ola Electric’s objectives include developing a large-scale battery manufacturing facility that will support this vision.

Conclusion

Bhavish Aggarwal has been a pioneer for electric mobility combined with sustainability, and India is at the forefront of the electrification revolution. ONDC’s primary goal is to make e-commerce more inclusive, increase the presence of retail businesses, and support sellers of tiny stores in India.
