When and how did you start?

I started working at a tender age but I wasn’t into events since the beginning; I started my career at a multinational company as a customer executive. While I was working, simultaneously, I also managed to take up dance and choreography related projects to earn an extra buck. Once I gathered some real-life job experience, I freelanced for about 4 years within the events industry, after which I decided to commence my own company in September 2015.

How did you come up with the idea? Your inspiration moment.

” I strongly believe in, “Do what you love. Love what you do,” mantra! By virtue of being born in a Gujarati family, Business was already in my blood; my previous job was monotonous and made me feel stagnant. I had 4 years of work ex. in this industry and I loved planning and executing, in short, I had nothing to lose. The only way to grow was to become my own boss; so I put everything on the line, took a massive leap of faith and started Allegiant Events.

I wasn’t sure if I’d succeed or not, but I was pretty sure I’d give in my 100% to make it happen ”  Says Nirav

Brief about organization and founding members

Allegiant Events is a proprietorship with Nirav Thaleshwar as it’s Founder and Director. There are other core team members and employees who help with management and backend work.

Maybe you can google up the meaning of Allegiant… the name was given after the qualities of the founder, a.ka. ‘Me.’

“We at allegiant events believe in quality, innovation, intelligence & creativity. We are mainly into weddings, corporates, socials and musical events. We provide our customers with end-to-end event planning & management services. We ensure our ideas are out-of-the-box and our concepts are never run-of-the-mill. We emphasize on quality over quantity” Says Nirav

As far as creating a personal connection is concerned, each client is unique and each client has a different brief for us. We try our best to understand the likes, dislikes, tastes, and preferences of the clients and then chalk out a list of requirements; we then guide them with exactly what they need. No extras, no faff, just what we believe will work best. When you put in efforts to understand people, it shows… they respond with equal enthusiasm, and that’s what makes work fun for us!

The detailed journey, like what all you want to share with readers.

I started out really small, but I had faith that things would work out and then they started falling into place. So, it’s never going to be easy, but it’s totally going to be worth it. Firstly, Do the right thing, don’t overthink. Secondly, don’t underestimate common sense, common sense makes everyone’s life easier.

As a freelancer, I would spend hours learning about things that were beyond my scope of events or areas of expertise. It is that knowledge that gives me a cutting edge over many, today!

Don’t under-estimate yourself or others. Keep your A-game on, each time, every time!

About funding, plans for growth

I had a humble beginning with my own savings. But some financial planning and calculated risks later, I was able to expand the seed capital into working capital and eventually into profits.

For the longest time I functioned as a one-man army, but now I have a team. The only thing important for growth is a strong team. You can’t grow big and expand all by yourself, there’s only so much one can micro-manage.

Challenges and Opportunities/ Marketing Strategies

Like any other industry, this industry also has cut-throat competition. It’s a dog-eat-dog world, and you just need to constantly keep innovating and offering something new to your audience.
Despite all the craziness out there, if there’s one thing that will keep you sane, it’s going to be your roots. The vision you started out with, don’t ever forget that or compromise on that. Remember, ethics matter!

As far as marketing is concerned, word of mouth and social media seem to like the most efficient ways of making it in the event industry! It’s simple, do good work, get more good work!

Future plans and funding

Well, short-term plans remain at getting quality work and building a quality team over the next 5 years.

In the long term, we could look at the option of getting on board investors or financiers.

A quote from the founder on the journey, or dealing with the challenge, or any inspiring moment.

If you’re good at something focus on that, grow that, flaunt that; it will work to your advantage. But if you’re not good at something, hire someone who is the best at it; you’ll spend some money but you’ll save time and effort. (But always be a ‘curious bug’ and try to understand how things work even if it’s not your job ).

” Temperament is the key to dealing with any challenge. Working within the events industry means dealing with last-minute problems and challenges. I try to use my experience, combined with patience, a dash of awareness and my presence of mind; it helps me take instant decisions” Says Nirav
