An Ookla study from last week claimed that test networks for 5G in India were reaching 500 Mbps. According to a recent assessment by the business, India’s median mobile data and fixed broadband speeds both dropped one spot in the month of September.
Prior to this, India’s median mobile data and fixed broadband speeds in August were rated 117 and 78 internationally, respectively. But the nation is now ranked 118th and 79th, respectively, in the September survey.
However, despite the decline in ranking, mobile network median download speeds marginally climbed from 13.52 Mbps in August to 13.87 Mbps in September. The fixed broadband median speeds, where the average speed jumped from 48.29 Mbps in August to 48.59 Mbps in September, showed a similar pattern.
Norway is in top place when it comes to total worldwide median mobile speeds. Regarding fixed broadband speeds, Chile topped the list of fixed median speeds worldwide.
According to a different Ookla survey, 89% of Indian customers plan to upgrade to 5G. Around 20% of respondents stated they would wait for the network provider to roll out 5G, while about 48% of those who want to upgrade are anxious to experience 5G, even if it means switching telecom carriers.
