Once more, Google TV is enhancing its selection of free live TV. The business revealed in April that the Google TV service would soon include more than 800 live TV channels, including those from Tubi, Plex, Haystack, and other providers. According to the firm, 25 more free channels will be added to the lineup today and may be viewed without downloading any additional apps or signing in.
Together with the additions, According to Google, there are over 100 free built-in channels among the 800.
Newly included are television series such as “Top Gear” and “Baywatch,” along with gaming programs, music networks, a variety of entertainment choices, and more. These complimentary Google channels make an excellent expansion to their existing offerings. They now stand alongside news channels like NBC, ABC, CBS, and FOX, in addition to other channels featuring shows like “Westworld,” “Law & Order: SVU,” and “The Walking Dead.”
Consumer use of FAST channels, or free ad-supported television, has surged recently as consumers have reduced their discretionary spending on subscription streaming services and other unnecessary costs. Free streaming is growing in popularity as a substitute due to escalating membership costs across streamers, including YouTube TV, and password crackdowns at Netflix.
According to new research by Samba TV, one in three Americans now use free, ad-supported streaming services, with Amazon’s Freevee experiencing the most growth. Additionally well-liked were Pluto TV, Tubi, The Roku Channel, and Crackle.
Google also said today that it will incorporate YouTube’s NFL Sunday Ticket arrangement into the Google TV service and the free streaming expansion. The NFL Sunday Ticket on YouTube and YouTube TV will be completely integrated with Google TV in the United States beginning with this season. From the Google TV home page, fans can “watch live out-of-market Sunday afternoon games, see top highlights, and get recommendations for top games of the week,” the firm said.
To make it simpler for users to find what they’re looking for, YouTube TV members added to Sunday Ticket will also see the programming in their channel guide on the Live tab.
