A Formula-E car was revealed at Durgam Cheruvu cable-stayed bridge on Sunday for racing aficionados in advance of the Formula-E event in Hyderabad the next year. It was then placed on display at the Tank Bund road, where it will be parked for a week.
11 teams will compete in the event, which will take place on the 2.7-km NTR Marg circle on February 11.
“The automobile has been seen by around 10,000 people so far, and it’s still going. Children are most enthused. The special chief secretary for municipal affairs, Arvind Kumar, tweeted about the Gen 2 EV car on Sunday night, describing it as a “low-slung, open cockpit, single-seater speed machine.”
The vehicle has a peak speed of 280 kmph and can accelerate from 0 to 62 kmph in 2.8 seconds thanks to a 250 kW battery.
Hyderabad, the lone city in India, is one of 12 sites across the world that will host Formula E races in 2023. Hyderabad will host the event in accordance with the deal for the following four years. With 100 races completed since its launch in 2014, Formula E is one of the world’s racing competitions with the quickest growth.
The state administration claims that Hyderabad would host Formula E Season 9, which will mark the debut of Gen 3 EV vehicles.
These vehicles have a peak speed of 300 kmph and can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 2.8 seconds. They are also lighter, quicker, and more energy-efficient. The most recent battery and quick charging technology will be installed in these, according to the statement.
The state administration views the event as a testament to Hyderabad’s roadways because Formula E races are run on conventional roads rather than specialised courses as Formula 1 races are. The NTR Marg route next to Hussainsagar Lake has been selected for the event. The officials have already started changing the pavement to create room for 30,000 spectators along the road length, which runs from the Indira Gandhi memorial clockwise to Lumbini Park, which has been selected as a loop circuit.
The Formula E vehicle will be on display for a week at Tank Bund before moving on to other venues throughout the city in the following months. To spread awareness of the event across the nation, the organisers want to drive the vehicle to other metro areas.
