After being astounded by the thought of a flying automobile, automotive aficionados online can’t believe a flying bike is now a reality, reminding netizens of the speeder motorcycles from “Star Wars.” According to Reuters, the Japanese firm AERQINS Technologies’ hoverbike made its premiere in the United States on Thursday at the Detroit Auto Show. The footage of the bike hovering and landing after its flight has left netizens dumbfounded.
The video, released on Twitter by news agency Reuters, shows a person getting off the bike and manoeuvring it in mid-air. The hoverbike is safely landed on the ground, and the video highlights the features of the world’s first flying bike.
“I feel like I’m truly 15 years old and I just came out of ‘Star Wars’ and went on their bike,” says Thad Szott, co-chair of the car show, in the video. “I mean, it’s incredible! Of course, you’re concerned, but I was simply so excited. I genuinely got chills and felt like a kid.”
According to Reuters, the XTURISMO hoverbike has a flight time of 40 minutes and a top speed of 62 miles per hour. The bike is currently available in Japan and will be available in the United States next year. The flying bike, which reminded internet users of Star Wars speeder motorcycles, cost $777,000.
