Through the beautiful and peaceful Himalayas, from the starting point Auli to the end spot Chattarkund, individuals take part in a metamorphosis, rising from an elevation of 3049 meters to this new place. I can’t believe how much I can learn about a person just by looking at them. It’s almost like reading their mind. Nikhil’s story is one of passion, purpose, and a deep connection to the outdoors. Then he started racing cars and climbing mountains after finishing a degree in engineering from Dehradun. Unfortunately, while rafting, he got injured in his leg, which made him shift his focus from rafting to mountaineering. He joined the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute in Darjeeling to pursue his new passion for mountaineering. He found out that nature has the ability to heal very deeply. Nikhil went back to Uttarakhand in 2019 and started rafting again. But what was found in the remote regions was beyond just the excitement of an adventure.

The people in the village were struggling to make ends meet because there were no good roads, power or basic services available to them. That moment became the motivation for Nikhil to do something to help these areas positively. Nikhil is an Indian who loves his country a lot. As a student, I know that there are several problems in our villages. That’s why Nikhil decided to focus on the three villages in Uttarakhand and worked to improve the well-being of those villages. He is committed to creating a change in the society by improving the sanitation conditions and creating awareness about menstruation which is often looked down upon in rural areas. Nikhil distributed over 100 sanitary pads in Lodiyalsera and Khirdwari villages which brought a huge change in the way people see menstruation. Nikhil and his team are doing work apart from menstrual health. They are involved in educational projects. The government has provided books and other educational materials to the students in the schools under their control in the three villages. Schools have introduced solar panels to offer continuous lessons.

Nikhil, seeing that the villagers required an additional source of income, came up with an innovative solution by introducing bee farming. He gave them boxes to gather honey. This project not only helps to improve the economic condition of the community, but it also reminds people to use organic and sustainable products as it provides a platform for villagers to sell honey directly to markets. But still there are many other companies who do the same things as Nikhil. But still Nikhil is very committed to his goal of improving the lives of villagers in India. His slow travel startup may not just be an adventure but also a meaningful way to make the world a better place. Nikhil is using tourism as a way of making a positive impact on people’s lives and the environment. He is showing that this can be done in a responsible and sustainable way. Nikhil Pratap Singh’s slow travel startup is helping to change the way people see the world by introducing them to new landscapes and vistas. It’s a great way to slow down and appreciate the beauty of nature. Nikhil sets an example for conscientious travel as he journeys ahead, always using each adventure as a chance to positively influence people often overlooked because of their distance from the major cities, specifically in the Himalayas.
