Ecosys raises ₹5 crore in pre-Series A funding

SUMMARY

Ecosys is a new laundry and home cleaning brand. Ecosys has raised ₹5 crore in its latest pre-Series A funding round. GVFL Prarambh Fund led this financing round. Proteus Partners, an investment firm with operator investors Puru Gupta and Sreejith Moolayil, has played a significant role in the round. With this new addition to investment capital, the total investment amount raised by Ecosys to date stands at ₹7.94 crore. The freshly acquired funds will be used primarily to create the brand identity, grow a wider consumer base through digital marketing, and create new snowflake product concepts in both the laundry and home cleaning segments, said an official press release by the company.

Consumer convenience and sustainable product engineering

Ecosys specializes in sustainable, water-soluble cleaning and laundry products. The core of all its product design is the use of 10-ml PVA (polyvinyl alcohol) capsules, which are custom-designed to rapidly decompose in water, directly addressing the universal issue of single-use plastic waste.

Its product range includes a range of eco-friendly products such as eco-friendly laundry detergent pods, glass cleaners, floor cleaners, bathroom cleaners, and specialist kitchen and utensil sprays. Formulations of chemicals developed by Ecosys are such that they have been developed with care to avoid being harmful to health or toxic and can be easily biodegraded, hence making each product child-safe and pet-safe.

The functional benefit of this concept is that users are able to reuse their existing spray bottles from the household instead of continuously buying new disposable plastic bottles. Ecosys is currently distributing and selling its product portfolio largely through high-growth quick-commerce sales channels and standard e-commerce sales channels and is positioning itself as a premium and convenience-led brand.

Industry growth and competitive landscape

The funding secured by Ecosys comes at a time when the broader market dynamics in the sector are shifting rapidly. According to relevant market research, India’s household cleaners market is expanding at a rate of nearly 14% annually, which represents a growth rate more than double the global market average.

This Ecosys funding follows a rapidly changing landscape across the wider market in the space. India’s Household Cleaners market is growing at a close-to-global pace of 14% annually, the relevant market research indicates.

A nationwide laundry and home cleaning startup unit is seeing sustainable, concentrated, and water-efficient cleaning formats being adopted at an accelerating speed. Instead, consumers and brands are increasingly looking for alternatives to the traditional capsule, like laundry pods, plant-based detergents, and brand-specific refill and lower-waste packaging options.

This boost in demand has given rise to significant venture capital interest in the overall eco-friendly home care arena in India. Inspecting the competitive funding landscape reveals several major investment transactions within the sector. Koparo, for instance, raised a ₹14.5 crore extended pre-Series A round last year, while startup Cleevo raised a $1 million investment during its seed round.

Home and personal care brand Beco, which sells plant-based alternatives to household products such as laundry liquids and floor cleaners, raised $10 million with Tanglin Venture Partners. In August this year, Scrubsy raised funds of ₹27 crore from V3 Ventures, reflecting continued investor confidence in sustainable cleaning solutions.

Conclusion

Ecosys has raised an additional ₹5 crore in a pre-Series A round, essential for its ongoing expansion. The brand’s founders, Sumit Goyal and Chirag Dangi, have built a product that combines non-toxic, water-soluble PVA pods with a sustainability-focused business model that avoids single-use plastics, positioning the brand for today’s environmental concerns. With institutional players such as GVFL Prarambh Fund and Proteus Partners, Ecosys is positioned to capitalize on the burgeoning quick-commerce landscape and digital penetration. With the Indian Household cleaning sector growing at the rate of about 14% every year, Ecosys is poised to remain perfectly aligned with the needs of consumers for sustainable and convenient products that are safe for children and families.
