As a result of such heavy rainfall and vicious winds, 14 flights have been called off to land at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport and diverted to the nearest airports until further notice. Many flights were delayed due to the sudden climate change. Airport officials had to do the necessary thing to alter the schedules of the affected flights from 4:05 pm to 4:51 pm.

“Overall 14 flights were diverted. 12 were diverted to Chennai, one to Coimbatore, and one to Hyderabad. Airline-wise count – seven Indigo Flights, three Vistara, two Akasa Airlines, and one each of Go Air and Air India. Six departures were delayed,” airport officials said to the news agency PTI.

Previous short torrents were seen in 2022 when Bengaluru marked its wettest year in five years after receiving 1,958.6 mm of rainfall. These wet spells were seen in October last year during the receding monsoon season due to troughs, or low-pressure areas in the atmosphere, which typically stretch along a line or axis.

The authorities have reported that normal operations have been resumed since the battering and the conditions for flight are improving. People leaving around the airport and IT corridors reported intense rainfall. Places like Varthur, Sarjapura, Whitefield, Marathalli, and Bellandur have also been prey to this event. Various videos are surfacing on social media showing the condition of Bengaluru right after the cruel storm hit them. People are showing the waterlogged roads and how the sudden change in the climate has struck chaos in the rain-hit parts of Garden City.
