When and how did you start?

Lazy Jojo is an online retail brand of customized, printed canvas shoes, founded in April 2017. It allows consumers to get almost anything printed on their canvas shoes. Consumers can also customize their shoes with a range of color combinations, quirky patterns and designs available on the website. Lazy Jojo provides 100% digital prints ensuring the durability of the prints and colors. With a click of a button, our newest of high-end software technology can turn a dream design into reality in merely 15 minutes. We offer a choice of high ankle and low ankle shoes with over 300 fun, quirky designs.  These designs are available across 8 categories, which include Bollywood, Doodles, and Patterns, Travel, High Life, Music, Cartoons and Superheroes, Sports and Romantic.

” I often visit different destinations to learn the cultures and trends. While exploring the local flea and street markets of Greece, I came across a tiny stall offering customized printed products. The machine could print just about anything that the customer asked for, right then and there. I was so intrigued to think of the incredible possibilities that such a concept possesses. That was my Eureka moment. I thought of the possibilities of having something similar back home in India, and after a thorough research realized that not even one brand was offering customized printed shoes in the market. I believe that consumers don’t get the option of customization of the shoes even if they get basic already designed and printed shoes. While industries like fashion, accessories and so on, thriving on new and trendy prints, footwear market is bland and ignored. Your shoes have to be comfortable but why boring.  Owing to my passion for shoes, I decided to bring the quirk factory in the bland footwear industry and hence, I founded Lazy Jojo. I visited too many countries, tried to assemble parts of it from different parts of the globe, and finally had it all settled. Now we are in the process and set to the exciting journey, and we’re scaling up”  Says the Founder Mr. Saket Agarwal. 

 How did you come up with the idea? Your inspiration moment

I am an explorer who loves to discover and draw inspirations from my travels. Being a travel enthusiast, I often visit different destinations to learn the cultures and trends and one such visit was to Greece and that is all it took to change my life. While exploring the local flea and street markets I came across a tiny stall offering customized printed products. The machine could print just about anything that the customer asked for, right then and there. I was so intrigued to think of the incredible possibilities that such a concept possesses. – Lazy Jojo is an online retail brand of customized printed canvas shoes. We aim to create an online shoe retailer brand that manufactures products as per the needs and demands of the consumers. The brand lets its consumers customize their shoe with designs and prints of their choice and features a broad spectrum of color combination and original patterns. The aim of the brand is to deliver high quality funky and customized canvas shoes at a very affordable price and with quality service with an expedited delivery time of 4-7 working days. To ensure the durability of the products, Lazy Jojo provides 100% digital prints, because sacrificing on the quality is against the brand rubrics.

Saket Agarwal is the founder and CEO of Lazy Jojo. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce with a specialization in Finance from Siliguri College of Commerce. With strong business acumen from a young age, Saket joined his family business of Timber Trading soon after he finished his ISC exam. To further diversify his family business, he went on to join J.B. Securities as a partner, a brokerage firm for equity commodities and Forex markets.

With expertise in strategic planning, skillful sales, and smart marketing for a sustainable business growth, with a flair for identifying and maximizing business opportunities, Saket responsibly took the company to new heights. He has also been associated with many CSR initiatives as he wants to give back to the society he lives in, including Young India Siliguri Chapter. He had also joined Round Table India, an association of young men, known for their incredible help in the education of underprivileged children

 Challenges and Opportunities/ Marketing Strategies

Canvas shoe industry is a growing industry, full of exciting changes and new opportunities for startups. But with the potential for success comes the fear of offering surplus that differentiates your brand from that of the competitor. The competition is fierce because the barriers to enter the shoe industry are relatively low while access to the venture capitalist is plenty. We realized that we need to find a niche market and differentiate ourselves from the competitors, and the reward was great. So in the process of brainstorming for this differentiating factor, we came to a realization that in India, there has been a stress on customer experiences.

We thought of combining a simple back to school canvas shoes to custom fit. The next challenge was to understand the gap in the market, understanding whether people in India needed custom canvas shoes. The gap was huge as no other brand offered digitally printed custom canvas shoes in India. There were a few who offered hand printed canvas shoes and they were booming, but there was none who offered digital prints. Post that we struggled to procure the advanced and seamless technology in India, as it was not available anywhere in the country. I visited too many countries, tried to assemble parts of it from different parts of the globe, and finally had it all settled. Now we are in the process and set to the exciting journey, and we’re scaling up

 Future plans and funding

– Having taken the first step into the online market, Lazy Jojo is now planning to further expand its presence through renewed tie-ups and aggressive marketing, along with a long-term roadmap to populate the offline space and present a customizable, quirky canvas shoe to every person in the world. We will be participating in more flea markets, making our presence felt strongly. We are also planning to diversify the style of shoes, and getting them listed in other e-commerce portals like Amazon, Myntra etc. We hope to soon populate both offline and online space with Lazy Jojo canvas shoes

Since the launch of the website in July, it has received nearly 80,000 clicks on its website. Out of these 80000 visitors, Lazy Jojo has managed to mature approximately 15,000 customers. This active base of 15,000 accounts has managed to generate more than 800 orders which have helped them to scale up their visibility and demand
