Air India Express cancelled more than 90 flights on Wednesday amid layoffs due to unavailability of cabin crew, now disrupting operations at Kolkata airport;
Air India Express cabin crew was on a strike from Tuesday night, May 7, due to mismanagement of airlines which eventually resulted in flight disruption. As a result, over 170 flights were called off on Thursday evening, May 9, while 75 flights were cancelled yesterday, May 10. In fact, the airline issued a termination letter to 25 cabin crew members who went on strike.
According to official reports the flights have been on 4routes from Kolkata as the airlines are making efforts to get back to normalcy. The airline had cancelled two flights between Kolkata and Hyderabad, one each to Chennai, Cochin and Ayodhya, an Air India Express spokesperson told PTI.
The officials have further added that they are expected to be fully normal in one-and-a-half days. Sources also said that some time will also be consumed in the medical check-up of the cabin crew who reported back to work, besides working out the entire duty roster.
