The video editing software CapCut, owned by ByteDance and the second in the company to surpass $100 million in consumer expenditure after TikTok, is now introducing commercial solutions. CapCut is a popular consumer video editing tool that consistently ranks among the top 10 or 20 Overall apps in the iOS tool Store. It is known for its simple-to-use templates, close connection with TikTok, and quick adoption of AI effects and filters. With the release of CapCut for Business, the company will now offer its solutions to advertisers and creators.
This CapCut platform extension with a business-oriented focus focuses on tools that aid marketers, brands, small companies, and content creators in producing advertisements and branded content. According to the business, the CapCut app for desktop, mobile, and tablets will include these tools.
The offering includes thousands of commercially licensed business templates, an intelligent tool for turning URLs of products or landing pages into videos, and an AI-powered script generation tool that aids advertisers in developing script ideas based on their product or business description. In addition to the production of ad scripts, AI is heavily utilized in the new service.
Additionally, CapCut for Business gives marketers access to AI-generated presenters that can demonstrate and explain a company’s items in films. A virtual try-on tool using AI models also enables shoppers to try on things and create images highlighting the object. The latter choice is intended for clothes retailers and e-commerce companies.
CapCut for Business, in contrast to the consumer software, is intended for usage by several teams. Users may collaborate on their advertising with other team members, agencies, and creators using collaboration tools. Anyone can be granted access to edit, read, add notes on, or review and edit content.
The tools can be used for paid and unpaid material, such as videos uploaded to a brand’s TikTok account. Businesses may use them to create videos to promote their goods on TikTok and other short-form video platforms.
Initially released in China as JianYing in 2019, CapCut, its sibling app for non-China markets, expanded internationally during the ensuing years and became prominent because of its connections to TikTok. Based on data from market intelligence company data.ai, the app had garnered 490 million users on iOS and Android platforms globally by August 2023, accounting for nearly a quarter of TikTok’s user population. Notably, the primary non-Chinese markets, such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, and Brazil, have experienced a substantial download surge during the first half of this year. CapCut reaches 170 nations outside of China in total.
During the first half of 2023, CapCut overtook Splice to become the most lucrative video editing app globally. It earned a record-breaking $50 million, making it ByteDance’s second app to cross $100 million in global revenue. Data.ai credits the recent additions of AI tools, like templates, effects, and filters, for improved adoption and income benefits. For instance, CapCut observed a boost in downloads after integrating generative AI templates and products this April, followed by consistent revenue growth, the company claimed. For ChatGPT users, ByteDance also provides a CapCut plugin.
The business is now promoting its editing tool as a method for people to create engaging videos for social media, including TikTok, quickly and for marketers to do the same without spending much money on sophisticated video editing software. Business customers could boost their video output, views, and engagement in some case studies, sometimes by triple-digit percentages. In contrast, in other studies, they were able to lower the average CPM and increase online sales. Of course, broader real-world outcomes will only be possible once more marketers have access to the program. Today marks the free launch of the new CapCut for Business platform for companies, marketers, and creators.
