Supreet’s journey from India to the USA with only two bags and big dreams demonstrated immense
bravery. At the age of 21, she made the bold decision to pursue the “American Dream.” Supreet was
determined to enter the world of Data, and following a Master’s degree seemed like the next obvious
step. With a bachelor’s degree in mathematics completed in three years, she faced the hurdle of most
universities requiring 16 years of education.
However, she persisted in reaching out to universities and, with her perfect GPA and stellar GRE score, was admitted to Rutgers University for an MBA+MS in Data Science & Analytics.
Her challenges continued, as being a non-immigrant meant fighting visa challenges, and finding her first
internship without any prior experience was a hurdle. Nevertheless, she developed her data science and
analytics skills, networked tirelessly, and secured a Spring Internship.
During this internship, Supreet identified the potential of data science within the team and facilitated the discovery of meaningful insights from data. Her passion and skills did not go unnoticed, and she was selected as one of six interns in the USA for Munich Re’s Data Science & Analytics coveted Leadership Program.
Securing a full-time position was another obstacle, despite her eleven months of internship experience. However, Supreet’s hard work paid off when she landed the role of Data Science Consultant at PharmaACE, where she built machine learning models to predict the drugs a patient requires each month. Her work significantly reduced right-offs, demonstrating her exceptional abilities in solving impactful problems.
Even after landing her first job, she continued networking with other professionals and received multiple job offers within seven months of joining the startup. However, she ultimately chose to join ZS Associates, a leading consulting firm in the healthcare space, after 1.5 years. Here, she worked on impactful projects and designed data-driven products to understand the patient journey better and perform competitive analyses to support the company’s launch strategy.
In 2022, Supreet pivoted to the financial industry, joining Morgan Stanley as Assistant Vice President of the products and strategy team. In this role, she is the product owner of various data-driven strategies and products.
She also leads a Data Science Apprenticeship program to provide an environment for data
strategists to work on impactful use cases using state-of-the-art Machine Learning methods. Her
remarkable journey is a testament to her dedication, resilience, and impact on the field of data
products. She was also selected as part of the Wealth Management Leaders Program for 2023 by
Morgan Stanley will provide her with the training and skill set to succeed as a Leader.
