According to co-founder Vikram Prabhakar, the goal of Recykal, a tech business formed in 2016, is to reintegrate garbage into the economy and lessen its environmental impact.

The business provides full-cycle digital waste management solutions. By bringing waste aggregators and recyclers together, it makes transactions possible.

Waste creation is a serious problem, involving not only packaging but also goods we use every day like electronics and other products. Recykal’s goal is to reduce waste’s environmental impact while reintegrating it into the economy.

The issues that trash recyclers around the nation confront are addressed by Recykal’s solutions in a B2B marketplace. It is challenging for recyclers to efficiently collect and process waste since, unlike other industries, waste management primarily uses informal techniques. By linking recyclers and aggregators around the country, Recykal eliminates these problems. The business runs a managed marketplace to make sure recyclers obtain waste materials on schedule, in the appropriate quantities, and with the expected quality, allowing them to operate their facilities free of worries about sourcing materials.

Along with the market, Recykal offers a platform that enables businesses all over the nation, such as Unilever, Pepsi, Coca-Cola, and others, to put post-consumer waste collection and recycling activities into action. The producer responsibility regulation, which requires businesses to collect and dispose of garbage in an environmentally responsible manner, is in line with this.

The business also works with regional administrations to digitize smart centers and collection centers, improving the effectiveness of garbage collection procedures throughout the ecosystem.

To facilitate waste collection from customers at five retail locations in Hyderabad, Recykal recently teamed with Indian Oil Corporation Limited. To gain fuel points, the campaign urges customers to bring aluminum cans and PET bottles and deposit them in reverse vending machines. Along with accepting dry garbage such as plastic, paper, cardboard, e-waste, glass, and metal, the project also offers consumers gasoline points for their contributions. Recykal has created an electronic system to collect waste, pay compensation in credits, and encourage the valorization of dry waste.

The Deposit Refund System, which was first implemented in Kedarnath last year, encourages consumers to return their waste (plastic packaging or e-waste) in exchange for a refundable deposit paid at the time of purchase. The initiative, which aims to create a cleaner Kedarnath, was recognized with the Digital India award. This year, Recykal implemented the system at Char Dham and plans to roll it out to other locations.
