Using a supercomputer, researchers have seen a wormhole for the first time ever. Albert Einstein and Nathan Rosen initially proposed the concept of wormholes in 1935. Wormholes are hypothetical structures in spacetime that resemble tunnels with two ends and are located at different positions in the unknown. One cannot see a wormhole with the naked eye. This advancement will make it easier for physicists to investigate space, science, and the operation of the cosmos. They have carried out teleportation through the wormhole that was theorised using a supercomputer employing the Sachdev-Ye-Kitaev, or SYK, model.

Under the project name “wormhole teleportation protocol,” a team at California Institute of Technology lead by Maria Spiropulu computerised the first wormhole using Google’s quantum computer. With the aid of a quantum gravity experiment on a chip, they have utilised a device dubbed Sycamore housed at Google Quantum AI, headquartered in Santa Barbara, California.

Scientists were able to inject a qbit, which is a supercomputer’s version of a bit, during the experiment. Quantum teleportation enabled scientists to observe the movement of information (qbit) from one quantum system to another.

The great fidelity of the quantum processor we used, according to principal researcher Spiropulu, “was vital.” Additionally, she added, “We discovered a quantum system that shows important gravitational wormhole features while being sufficiently tiny to be implemented on current quantum technology.”
