Shikhar Dhawan, an Indian cricketer, has made plans to establish a sports metropolis in the metaverse. The soon-to-be-opened multidimensional sports city will have cricket stadiums, a sportsplex where spectators can watch games at their leisure, a sports cafe, gym, e-sports zone, cottages, jogging tracks, the first-ever 3D immersive sports museum, a sports library, and much more.

Dhawan is eager to invest in the metaverse because he thinks that more individuals will be willing to join the metaverse frenzy as the sports industry expands.

To bridge the gap between the currently available offline sports/fitness avenues and metaverses, “We are constructing a fully functional and sustainable multiverse economy. To build something like this and have a creative impact, you kind of have to be insane, Dhawan said in a news release.

I’ve always made an effort to stay current with technology. How sports can integrate with the newest web3 advancements greatly interests me. Our multidisciplinary team is pushing the boundaries in the virtual reality field to make it genuinely democratic and accessible for everyone in light of the changing internet consumption tendencies of millennials and Gen Z, he added.

It’s interesting to note that sports organisations are also working with several crypto startups to establish NFTs and tokens, offering the developers more opportunities to generate passive revenue. The most recent trend in cryptocurrency initiatives is the sponsorship of sports, including baseball, Formula 1, UFC, football, and eSports. According to sports analytics company Nielsen Sports, cryptocurrency partnerships with sports clubs and leagues increased by over 100% in 2021 and are projected to reach $5 billion by 2026.

Two Web3 companies, Bliv Club and WIOM, are involved in this partnership. “The most cutting-edge technical advancement will be found in this 3-D immersive reality called Metaverse. The inhabitants and users of this virtual city will have a unique position given the importance of the community-owned platform in web3. Our mission as a Web3 Fintech firm will always be to make cutting-edge solutions available to the general public, according to Vikas Singh, co-founder of Bliv.Club.
