According to BESCOM, which is the coordinating organisation for holding the expo in the city, the “EV Abhiyaana” will be hosted at Chamara Vajra, Palace grounds, in Bengaluru. It will be opened by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Friday and run till July 3.

“In order to make Bengaluru the state’s EV capital, the Karnataka government introduced EV policy in 2017. Throughout order to enable infrastructure for EV charging stations in the state, the government has also designated BESCOM as the nodal agency, according to a statement from BESCOM.

The EV Mitra app, which BESCOM says it created to offer information on charging stations in the city, was announced on the eve of the expo. The app itself contains information about prices and charging stations. According to BESCOM’s statement in the press announcement, “The EV Mitra App is user-friendly and will give information about charging stations, tariffs, payment choices, and advance booking for charging.”

In addition, the government has created the EV Jagruthi online portal as part of a collaborative project between NITI Ayog and the government of the United Kingdom (UK) to encourage EV mobility in the state.

BESCOM has installed 136 charge stations across the city to support the use of electric vehicles. In addition, 152 additional charging stations will soon be available, according to BESCOM.

An invitation to tender has been issued for the establishment of 1,000 charging stations around the state under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model.

BESCOM will dedicate 289 EV charging stations in its control to the show.

The Chief Minister will also announce the debut of the EV Mitra App and the single window dashboard feature, which allows for online approval of power supply connections for new charging stations. Through the web portal, public, private, and non-profit organisations can request electricity supply and easily receive a single-window approval.

The expo will include more than 100 booths for the exhibition of goods, services, and innovations from diverse global stakeholders.

The three-day EV Expo will feature face-to-face interactive discussions with the CEOs of top electric car manufacturers, charging stations, fleet operators, battery makers, and numerous other stakeholders.

To encourage the use of electric vehicles in the city, an EV Rally was planned on July 2 from Vidhana Soudha to Palace Ground.
