As key players roll out their digital services in new cities, increase the capacity of their data centres, and hire for specialised roles, telecom jobs have shown an encouraging trend in line with the rollout of 5G services, with hiring up by 13%. Additionally, thanks to holiday demand, industries like apparel, textiles, and jewellery have seen job growth of 11%, production and manufacturing of 5%, and retail of 5%.
Additionally, the Index discovered a rising trend for top management positions, highlighting the demand for strong leadership amid global downturns and Indian inflation worries.
According to the Index, Ahmedabad had the highest increase in hiring (10%). Cities like Coimbatore (up 7%) and Jaipur (up 1%) have seen progressive trends as festive hiring ramps up in tier 2 cities and the government focuses on areas outside of metropolitan hubs for operations. Mumbai and Hyderabad both saw growth in e-recruitment activity of 8% and 2%, respectively, among metros, while Delhi-NCR saw no change.
As India enjoys restriction-free travel, jobs in hospitality and travel have seen a steady increase of 8% in September. The demand for highly qualified professionals in finance and accounting has risen over the past few months despite the fact that the Indian white-collar labour market is still unreliable as businesses increasingly use emerging technology in their decision-making processes. The demand for HR professionals (up 9%) remained steady despite rising attrition and India Inc.’s search for qualified talent.
A depressing trend in the demand for marketing-related jobs has been the 5% decline in the demand for sales and business and marketing and communications profiles (down 6 per cent).
