On Friday, Prime Minister will board the Vande Bharat Express himself as he flags it off from Gujarat on Friday.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, this will be a part of the PM’s two-day visit to Gujarat, where he will arrive on Thursday and launch projects worth Rs 29,000 crore. Later this year, elections for the Gujarat Assembly are scheduled.
Between Gandhinagar and Mumbai, the third Vande Bharat train will operate. According to the statement, the PM would join the train at Gandhinagar and ride up to Kalupur Railway Station. The PM will next travel up to Doordarshan Kendra station to officially launch Phase 1 of the Ahmedabad Metro project.
The projects, which are located in Surat, Bhavnagar, Ahmedabad, and Ambaji, are “aimed at establishing world-class infrastructure and boosting mobility and convenience of life,” according to the announcement.
The Navratri holiday celebrations in Ahmedabad will also include participation by Prime Minister Modi.
More than Rs 3,400 crore will be spent on the projects that Surat will launch in total. Modi will lay the cornerstone and launch many construction projects totaling more than Rs 5,200 crore in Bhavnagar.
In addition, Modi will officially launch the 36th National Games, which are being hosted in Gujarat for the first time, and lay the cornerstone for the first CNG terminal in the world at Bhavnagar.
Inaugurating Phase I of DREAM City, a project designed to support the booming diamond trade industry in Surat, is another activity for the prime minister.
Additionally, he will lay the cornerstone for a wide gauge railroad line that would facilitate pilgrims’ journeys to Ambaji. Modi will go to the Ambaji shrine and offer his respects. He’ll also go to Gabbar Tirtha’s Mahaarti service.
By the day after Independence Day in the next year, 75 Vande Bharat trains will be operating.
